Quade Sportsmanship Award
 |
|
Pat Clark presents Herb Quade with an award for his 50+ year of
service as a high school official in March
of 2001. |
The Fruitbelt Officials
Association membership voted during the Fall 2001-02 general meeting to present a new "Coaches
Sportsmanship Award" annually to coaches of each of the seven sport teams the association
supports: basketball (boys' and girls'), football, wrestling, volleyball, baseball &
softball. Each will be presented with a certificate noting their achievement. Of the
seven, one will be chosen "Coach of the Year" and honored with a plaque commemorating the
occasion. At the Winter 2001-02 general meeting it was decided to name the award posthumously in
honor of long-time Fruitbelt member Herb Quade, who passed away
in September of 2001. Herb was
involved with high school sports as an official, coach and
administrator for over fifty years. All area varsity
coaches active in the above-mentioned sports are eligible
for the award, which is presented to an individual
exemplifying the high ideals in coaching and sportsmanship
that Mr. Quade always represented.
